The power tool for SPC! |
GaugeLink is a low cost adaptor which allows readings to be transferred directly
from your Mitutoyo Digimatic(tm) digital measuring gauge into your computer.
Simply connect your gage to the GaugeLink, and the GaugeLink to your computer, and you will never again have to
manually type readings into the computer.

Free data acquisition Software |
GaugeLink comes with a free "software wedge" program, GLWedge, that will transfer readings directly
into any Windows program. Whenever you take a reading on your gage
it will appear in your program, exactly as if the numbers had been typed manually with a trailing [Enter] key.
In Exceltm you will get one reading per cell, down a column. In (say) Notepadtm you will get one reading per line.
New: GLWedge V3.0 now lets you set up readings to appear in multiple columns.
If you are writing your own application, let GLWedge do the difficult COM port stuff for you and simply let it
"squirt" the data into a text entry box that can respond to a carriage return character.
So why put up with tedious and error prone manual data entry when it can be automated so easily? |

You can download GLWedge for free. It has a demo mode
that generates simulated readings, just as if they came
from a gauge connected to your computer via a real
GaugeLink. This will let you try out the idea on your
intended Windows program.Click here to download the GLWedge installation file glw.exe.
Save it on your desktop and double click on
it to install it on
your computer. Click here for the GaugeLink user instructions in Adobe Acrobat (.pdf) format (61K). This includes the communications message format in case you want to write your own driver. Click here to download an ActiveX control package for GaugeLink. This contains a component that will will allow you to write your own Visual Basic program to communicate with the GaugeLink. We have not been able to test it with other software, e.g. Excel. If you want to try using it in other software we will work with you to sort out any problems. This is a 2MB zip file. Unzip it into a temporary folder and run the setup.exe program. Click here to download a labVIEW program to read the GaugeLink. This was contributed by a customer, Ian Salgado, and is not supported, either by him or by us. |

Free SPC Software |
Statistical Process Control (SPC) is a technique that uses sensitive statistical analysis of test data to identify manufacturing process problems before they result in out of tolerance product. Many companies fail to take advantage of this powerful technique because the math is scary. In actual fact you need to understand very little of the math to take advantage of SPC. Some years ago we wrote an "entry level" software package for SPC called qCalc. qCalc is free, and contains an introductory SPC tutorial that demystifies the topic and presents it in an easily understood, intuitive manner. Click here for more information and to download qCalc. | |
